Thematic Einstein Semester on Mathematics of Complex Social Systems, April-September 2022, Berlin

Thematic Einstein Semester (TES) on “The Mathematics of Complex Social Systems: Past, Present, and Future” will take in Berlin during the summer semester 2022.

Combining a series of events, the TES aims at unlocking the potential for mathematical modeling and reasoning within the extremely large and diversified fields of study that constitute modern Social Sciences and the Humanities. It shall bring together young researchers and experienced scholars from mathematics and other disciplines to focus on complex social systems, with a two-fold focus on agent-based models and data-driven methods.

The TES will start with the Opening Day on 25th of April 2022, which will be followed by several workshops, a summer school and a final conference.  During the semester, there will be the Einstein lecture series consisting of keynote talks given by experts in the field.

As a part of the TES, a data-challenge for students will be organized on a few characteristic data-sets about social systems. This will also offer the possibility of writing a Master/Bachelor thesis on related topics. The most successful candidates will win an award and can present their work at the Final Conference.
