Naredni sastanak Seminara biće održan u sredu, 10. aprila 2019. u sali 301f Matematičkog instituta SANU sa početkom u 18 časova. U pitanju je zajednički sastanak sa seminarom Odeljenja za matematiku.

Naslov predavanja: P-ULTRAFILTERS ON NATURAL NUMBERS

Apstrakt: P-ultrafilters on the set of natural numbers, i.e., ultrafilters closed under countable pseudo intersections, have over the time become of great importance in set theory and its applications to other areas of mathematics. P-ultrafilters (also called P-points) were identified already in the 1950’s by Walter Rudin who used them to prove the non-homogeneity of the Stone space of ultrafilters on natural numbers. However, the existence of P-points is not provable using just the usual axioms of set theory ZFC. I will briefly recall the history, overview some basic properties of P-points and new developments in the area. In particular, I will formulate an axiom like statement which implies the non-existence of P-ultrafilters.
