Naslov predavanja: MULTIPLE ORTHOGONALITY AND APPLICATIONS IN NUMERICAL INTEGRATION
Sadržaj: Motivated by a problem that arise in the evaluation of computer graphics illumination models Carlos Borges in [Numer. Math. 67, 1994, str. 271--288] examined the more abstract problem of numerically evaluating of a set of r definite integrals taken with respect to distinct weight functions, but related to a common integrand and interval of integration. It turns out that such set of quadrature rules are closely related to the so-called type II multiple orthogonal polynomials.
In this lecture a brief survey of multiple orthogonal polynomials, defined using orthogonality conditions spread out over r>1 different measures, are given. Such polynomials satisfy a linear recurrence relation of order r+1, which is a generalization of the well known three-term recurrence relation for ordinary orthogonal polynomials (the case r=1).
Some applications of such orthogonal systems to numerical integration are given. Also, methods for the numerical construction of multiple orthogonal polynomials, as well as the corresponding optimal set of quadrature rules, based on the discretized Stieltjes-Gautschi procedure are presented.

Sadržaj: It will be considered summation of some p-adic functional series with factorials. In particular, we are interested in the series which are convergent for all p-adic number fields, and have the same integer value for an integer argument. In this talk, we present some interesting results related to such p-adic functional series. Connection with some problems of number theory, including Kurepa hypothesis on left factorial, and combinatorics, will be discussed.

Naslov predavanja: MODELING OF PLAQUE FORMATION AND PROGRESSION IN THE ARTERY
Sadržaj: In this study, we analyzed animal experiments and clinical data for plaque formation and progression. The 3D blood flow is governed by the Navier-Stokes equations, together with the continuity equation. Mass transfer within the blood lumen and through the arterial wall is coupled with the blood flow and is modeled by the convection-diffusion equation. LDL transport in lumen of the vessel is described by Kedem-Katchalsky equations. The inflammatory process is solved using three additional reaction-diffusion partial differential equations. Experimental model of plaque formation on pig LAD is simulated numerically using a specific animal data obtained from intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and histological data. Computed concentration of macrophages for pig model indicates that there is a newly formed matter in the intima, especially at foam cell lipids area which varied from 12 to 20% and chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) areas from 1.5 to 3.5%. Patient study predicts new plaque formation after 12 months follow up which corresponds to size and plaque composition. Matching of plaque location, size and composition progression in time between experimental and computer model shows a potential benefit for future prediction of this vascular decease.
