MODEL DEVELOPMENT OF A SMART ACOUSTIC STRUCTURE AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION FOR THE MODEL-BASED ACTIVE STRUCTURAL ACOUSTIC CONTROL

Abstract: Two approaches for model development of a smart acoustic box are presented: the finite element (FE) approach and the subspace identification. Both approaches result in a state-spacemodel, which can be used for obtaining the frequency responses and for the controller design. In order to validate the developed FE model and to perform the subspace identification, an experimentalHardware-in-the-Loop set-up with the acoustic box and dSPACE system is used. Based on the developed models the control methods are suggested and implemented for the noise reduction within the acoustic structure. As the noise measure, the pressure of the acoustic fluid at a prescribed point within the acoustic box is defined. Investigations through numerical simulations and experimental studies have shown a good agreement between the FE-based and identified models as well as a considerable reduction of the noise level using the suggested control methods (optimal and adaptive control).

Vladimir Lazić (Max Planck, Bonn):"Kako klasifikovati algebarske varijetete!?"

Apstrakt: "Biće predstavljen pojam kanonskog prstena u algebarskoj geometriji, i biće objašnjeno kako on pomaže da se klasifikuju varijeteti. Videćemo zašto je Mori dobio Fildsovu medalju 1990., kao i kome se ona možda smeši 2010. Obećavam dosta G i A, kao i ponešto od C i T."

Veoma mi je drago (R.Ž.) da za kraj 2009. imamo jedno izuzetno interesatno predavanje jedog od naših najperspektivnijih mladih matematičara! Vladimira svi dobro znamo a za još mlađe učesnike CGTA seminara evo dva-tri detalja iz njegove biografije.

ASTROINFORMATICS: WIDE-FIELD PLATE DATABASE

Abstract: The newly born area of Astroinformatics has emerged as an interdisciplinary area from Astronomy and modern information and communication technologies, based on the modern Internet developments. Recently, four institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences launched a joint project called Astroinformatics and aimed at the development of the necessary methods and techniques.

As a truly interdisciplinary area Astroinformatics has arisen from the need of ICT methods for preservation and exploitation of the scientific, cultural and historic heritage of astronomical observations. The Wide-Field Plate Data Base is an ICT project of the Institute of Astronomy, which has been launched in 1991, by the Working Group Wide-Field Sky Surveys of the International Astronomic Union (IAU) and is unique by its nature at the international level. So far 300,000 plates have been already digitized through several European research programs. As a result, image-data is collected with about 2TB size and it tends to rise up to 1PB. The access, manipulation and science data-mining of such a huge amount of information is a serious challenge for the ICT community and the efforts in this direction are funded by European scientific programs as COST Action 283, FP6 \& FP7 of the European Virtual Observatory, the Humboldt Foundation of Germany, and recently, by the Bulgarian National Science Foundation (Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria, DO-02-273 and DO-02-275).

APPLICATION OF NEW WAVELET ANALYSIS METHOD TO ASTRONOMICAL IMAGES

Abstract: There has been a number of applications of Wavelet Analysis to the processing and compression of Astronomical images, see the works of F. Murtagh and J.-L. Starck. In several papers of J.-L. Starck and coauthors they apply the so-called curvelets which were developed by D. Donoho (Stanford) and Emannuel Candes (Caltech). The curvelets have appeared as an attempt to compensate the inability of the traditional multidimensional wavelets to catch the edge effects of multidimensional images. Although the curvelets provide a sparse representation of the two-dimensional images they are rather clumsy mainly due to the lack of genuine wavelet properties, and also since they are a highly redundant family. We propose to apply the polyharmonic wavelets (which have been developed by the author)  for the analysis of Astroimages. Recently, they have shown an essential advantage over other methods at least for the representation and compression of chains.

Seminar za geometriju, vizuelizaciju i obrazovanje sa primenama, 17. decembar 2009.

Naziv predavanja: Geometrija vokerovih (Walker) mnogostrukosti

Apstrakt: Predstavila bih osnovne rezultate u geometriji vokerovih mnogostrukosti. Vokerove mnogostrukosti su pseudo-rimanove mnogostrukosti koje dopuštaju netrivijalno paralelno nul ravansko polje. One omogućavaju ispitivanje nekih osnovnih razlika u geometrijama rimanovih i pseudo-rimanovih mnogostrukosti, i dobro ilustruju fenomene koji se pojavljuju u psedo-rimanovoj geometriji koji su bitno različiti od onih koji se pojavljuju u rimanovoj geometriji, odnosno različitosti uslovljene prelaskom sa pozitivno definitne metrike na indefinitnu metriku. Prikazivanje geometrije pseudo-rimanovih mnogostrukosti  se zasniva na analizi krivinskih osobina mnogostrukosti,koja omogućava dobijanje geometrijskih i topoloških rezultata vezanih za polazne mnogostrukosti. Posebno ću predstaviti mnogostrukosti dimenzije 3 kao posebno interesantne, a zatim mnogostrukosti dimenzije 4,koje omogućavaju prelazak na više dimenzije. Daću i kratak osvrt na hermitsku geometriju vokerovih mnogostrukosti i predstaviti neke specijalne vokerove mnogostrukosti.

Osnova ovog izlaganja je upravo publikovana knjiga: The Geometry of Walker Manifolds čiji su autori: Miguel Brozos-Vazquez, Eduardo Garsia-Rio, Peter Gilkey, Stana Nikčević, Ramon Vazques-Lorenzo, u izdanju Morgan&Claypool Publishers, u seriji Synthesis Lectures on Mathematics and Statistics, editor serije: Stevan G. Krantz.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEURAL NETWORK IN FORM OF XML WEB SERVICE FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS OF DATA MINING'S CLASSIFICATION

Abstract: Various classification algorithms/tools became available due to a surge of interdisciplinary research interests in the areas of data mining and knowledge discovery. The approach proposed in this paper redefines the commonly used form of Neural Network as stand-alone software and proposed Neural Network as distributed software component. The objective is to expose a neuro­classifier in form of XML Web Service.
